{"id":4886,"date":"2022-12-24T11:55:36","date_gmt":"2022-12-24T10:55:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/almasderplus.tn\/?p=4886"},"modified":"2023-03-06T09:00:51","modified_gmt":"2023-03-06T08:00:51","slug":"tech-african-women-program-taw-announces-the-winner-of-its-first-demo-day-in-addis-ababa-ethiopia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/almasderplus.tn\/?p=4886","title":{"rendered":"Tech African Women program (TAW) announces the winner of its first Demo  Day in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UNECA (United Nations Economic Commission for Africa), in partnership with<br \/>\nBetacube, organized the first Demo Day of Tech African Women (TAW) program on<br \/>\nTuesday, December 20th in Addis Adeba, at the UNECA Conference Center.<br \/>\nTech African Women (TAW) is an entrepreneurship program that is dedicated to empower<br \/>\nAfrican female entrepreneurship, help them transform their ideas into a validated business<br \/>\nmodel and build a strong female-led tech Startup pipeline and community in Africa.<br \/>\nTAW 1.0 which was launched in August 2022 with a series of bootcamps in 4 African<br \/>\ncountries, is a 5-month entrepreneurial program for women-led &amp;amp; idea-stage tech startups<br \/>\nthat provide solutions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The first TAW cohort<br \/>\nwas composed of 8 idea-stage startups from Tunisia, Senegal, Tanzania and Ethiopia.<br \/>\nThese startups benefited from an intensive 3-month incubation phase, supervised by a<br \/>\nnetwork of developers, designers and business experts. During their training, the startups<br \/>\nwere able to attend tailored webinars led by international trainers and were put in touch<br \/>\nseparately with different experts who supported them on branding, business planning,<br \/>\nmarket analysis, pitching etc.<br \/>\nOn the occasion of its first Demo Day, 8 founders representing the 4 targeted African<br \/>\ncountries got invited to Addis Ababa to pitch their ideas and to win a prize of 7 000 USD. A<br \/>\nstartup ecosystem tour was also organized, in which the finalists visited a coworking space,<br \/>\nan innovation hub and met with successful local startups.<br \/>\nBased on four criteria; impact, market size, team and competitive advantage, the startups<br \/>\nwere scored by judges and Ujana was announced as a winner of TAW 1.0.
